Congratulations to all-star athletes, all-star students

The York Daily Record/Sunday News will unveil its spring all-stars, starting Saturday in the paper.

You can check GameTimePA.com later tonight for the first sport, girls' lacrosse, and we'll keep going until next Sunday.

A thank you goes out to all the coaches who voted and made themselves available for questions, athletic directors who tracked down photos and organized things and parents who dealt with phone calls from YDR reporters and editors.

But most of all, it's about the athletes.

I spent many hours tracking through our archives, searching for stats and photos, and what I noticed more than anything is how involved these athletes are in the community.

They're not just great athletes, but great citizens of York County with great futures ahead of them. Many of the athletes have been onthe honor roll. Many have been involved with community groups and participated in charity events. Most of the spring athletes had been all-stars in other sports.

And they come from great families. We've seen many of these last names before, and we'll see many of them again.

And finally, not every athlete can be an all-star (I sure wasn't in my ice hockey and lacrosse days), but every athlete has contributed to their teams, their school and community in another great year for YAIAA athletics.
