Zeller adds Oregon to offer list; More info on YAIAA-Mid-Penn all-star game

The stock on Red Lion lineman Andrew Zeller appears to keep going up. Last month, the Red Lion lineman added his fourth written scholarship offer -- this one from Pac-10 (is it Pac-16 yet?) power Oregon. The Ducks visited Zeller early last month, and extended an official offer shortly after that, Lions coach Pat Conrad said.

Zeller has been tripping all over the country, taking visits and keeping his options open. Last weekend he stopped by North Carolina, N.C. State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Next weekend, he'll head to camps at Michigan and Michigan State.

Currently, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound rising senior also has written offers from Duke, Maryland and Rutgers.

"He's going to get a free college education, and the cost of his education is traveling around and visiting these places," Conrad said.

Conrad added at Zeller is in no hurry to make a college decision. And why should he be? If he continues to perform well at various camps this summer, his offer sheet could easily expand.

Conrad was part of the steering committee which organized the new Thanksgiving Day all-star game (our story on that is here), and offered up a few more specifics.

- The two teams will consists of 38 players. Those players will be selected by coaches from each conference on the Sunday after the first week of districts.

- All seniors whose teams do not qualify for the district playoffs will be eligible to participate in the game.

Barry Biesecker of the Quarterback Club of York (which will host the game) said Thursday organizers are still looking for sponsors for the game.
