Dallastown junior has offer from West Virginia

Last year it was William Penn wide receiver Malik Generett. This year, it's Central York linebacker Kyle Baublitz.

And it looks like we might have found the YAIAA's next next big college football prospect: Dallastown junior linebacker/wide receiver Ben Kline.

Wildcats coach Kevin Myers said Tuesday night that Kline received a verbal offer from Big East power West Virginia on Sept. 1 -- the junior's first verbal offer. Other schools have expressed interest, Myers said, including Penn State, Rutgers, Connecticut and Temple, but so far the Mountaineers are the only ones to offer a full ride.

West Virginia is looking at Kline as a linebacker, Myers said, although he feels Kline "might be able to play a slot receiver" at the next level.

Kline has size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds), but perhaps more importantly, he has speed to match. Myers said he ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at a camp this summer.

So far, Kline's had a solid start to the season. He has 16 catches for 214 yards so far, and Myers said had close to 20 tackles in Saturday's loss to Kennard-Dale.

And with most of his junior year and a full senior campaign left, there's a chance interest in Kline could continue to boom.

"We never had anyone recruited big time here, so we'll kind of see how it goes," Myers said. "We're about to send out some more tape to schools.

"He's starting out his first three games well for us. We just moved him to inside linebacker, so there's a little bit of learning curve. I think he had 10 tackles each of the first two games."
