Central to play Cumberland Valley in 2010

While doing a bit of research ahead of Friday's slate of football games, I stumbled across this interesting nugget on the Cumberland Valley football alumni's Web site.

It seems the Eagles have added a new non-conference opponent for the 2010 and 2011 seasons -- none other than defending YAIAA Division I champs Central York. That sets up an enticing non-conference matchup: Cumberland Valley was the District 3 Class AAAA runners-up last year, losing to Wilson in the title game.

The note on the Web site also confirms that Cumberland Valley has renewed its contract with Red Lion for the next two years. The Eagles and Lions play each other Friday night in Mechanicsburg. Cumberland Valley won last year's meeting, 31-12.

I'll see if I can confirm all this tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Update: Central York coach Brad Livingston has indeed confirmed that the Panthers will play Cumberland Valley next year. Lower Dauphin, Central's Week 2 opponent this season, will be dropped from the schedule, although the Panthers will scrimmage against Lower Dauphin next preseason.
