L-L Football Media Day is the unofficial event that starts the countdown to high school football in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.

As the excitement draws near for fans, the players also begin to get antsy as they analyze their ten-game schedule, which will consume a large portion of their lives for the next 3-4 months.

With that anxiety comes the excitement about particular games on the schedule. Those games that get a big red circle drawn around them. The kind of game you look forward to all year.

I polled all of the players at Media Day to see what game they had circled on their calendar and the results are in…

To no surprise, a lot of players want a crack at Manheim Central.

For an array of reasons, teams from around the L-L (Mainly from Section Two) admitted that while all the games are important, a game with Manheim Central always has a different feel.

When told that his team is being targeted by a lot of teams, Central head coach Mike Williams showed no disbelief and compared the situation to Major League baseball where every team likes to play the New York Yankees.

So while there is a bulls-eye on the Barons’ back in 2014, it’s an all too familiar position that they have relished and thrived in for quite some time
