Cocalico's private "Jhet"

If there’s a cooler name than Jhet Janis in the L-L League, I have yet to hear it.

The Cocalico senior has been given the reins to the offense as the starting quarterback for the defending Section Two champions. As an underclassman, Janis has been used at essentially every position that can get the ball in his hands. He was even named to the GameTimePA preseason all-star team as a return specialist.

In 2013 however, Janis will take on the role as full-time starter under center

“Being all over the place, I kind of understand the offense better so it’s easier for me and I’m definitely ready,” Janis said.

Having a background in other skill positions make the speedy Janis just as dangerous with his legs as he is with his arm.

“I’m definitely a dual-threat,” he said. “Our offense has the veer and triple option so I can either dish it out to Spencer (Moser) or I can find a seam for myself.”

With the new full-time role, Janis is embracing his responsibility as the senior leader and setting the bar high for the Eagles again in 2013.

“What’s on everyone’s mind is another section title. I definitely want to accomplish just having everyone playing solid football with not a lot of mistakes.”

Janis and the Eagles begin their season on August 30 when they travel to Daniel Boone.
