Could Penn Manor's Sweigart be heading to the Ivy League?

Penn Manor offensive/defensive lineman Mitchell Sweigart has had a pretty busy summer so far. The 6’5, 240-pound senior has been exploring possible college destinations for quite some time and is starting to narrow down his options.

So far, Sweigart said he has had talks with school such as the University of Delaware, Maryland, Holy Cross, Yale and most recently, Princeton.

While his options are still wide open, Sweigart said that he very much enjoyed his trip to the Princeton campus and that a school’s academic prevalence will factor into his final decision as much as it’s athletic department.

While he feels most comfortable at tackle, Sweigart said that he is being looked at for two positions.

“Some schools like me at offensive tackle and other want me at defensive end,” he said. “I’d like to play tackle. That’s where I feel I’m the strongest.”

With his summer flying by, the Penn Manor senior knows that his final high school

football season is fast approaching. While his future is bright as far as college football, Sweigart explained his excitement for his present team.

“I’m so excited. I think our team is looking great", he said. “I think we definitely have an opportunity to go 10-0.”

The Comets kick off their 2013 season at home against Solanco on August 30.
