Team: Elizabethtown

Class: 5A

Head Coach: Bill McDonald (2-8)

Winning their final two games of last season, Elizabethtown could be ready to take the next step. There is plenty of initiative.

Previously, the Bears had lost their last 21 games dating back to the end of the 2013 season coupled with a 0-10 season in 2014 and a 0-8 start last year.

Heading into the 2016 season, second-year head coach Bill McDonald has reasons to be optimistic. The Bears will welcome a core of returnees who could make a difference down the stretch.

Senior quarterback Micah Garber is back to run the offense. Garber threw for 1,138 yards and tossed eight touchdowns. In the backfield, senior Scott Fox (398 yards, two touchdowns) and junior Cayden Livingston (373, three touchdowns) are the team’s leading returning rushers.

Garber will look to senior receiver Logan Yohn, who caught 20 balls for 246 yards with a pair of touchdowns last year. Yohn also had 52 tackles last year, and junior Cade Robinson is back as the team’s leading tackler (54 stops) last year.

The Bears will host Donegal in their season opener Sept. 2.
