Donegal looking to new faces for continued success
The L-L guys are back to break down the interesting landscape in Section Three as the 2016 high school football season approaches.
Head Coach: Jeff Polites (39-34)
Donegal entered last season off a 6-4 campaign in Section Three that ended with a loss to West York in the playoffs.
Last season, the Indians looked to build from the playoff momentum with a senior-laden class that produced 46 touchdowns. However, Donegal struggled to find consistency during the early part of the season before they rebounded to win three of their last four games and again finish with a 6-4 mark.
This year, the Indians will need to replace a potent rushing attack that averaged 300 yards per contest last season and was led by Tanner Shirk, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards, along with Austin Dimeler, and Marshall Mario. Incoming senior Tyler Snyder is the leading returning rusher.
Quarterback Derek Mohr, who threw for six touchdowns and over 600 yards, was also lost to graduation. Senior Kobe Bistline, who saw limited action, returns as a projected starter.
Senior Greg Chrysler, and juniors Brooks Bear and Nick Ketner are back as the leading returning receivers for the Indians.
With a new cast in place, Donegal likely will need a quick maturation to stay in the hunt in the L-L Section Three.
