The third-seeded Littlestown Thunderbolts are headed to the District 3 Class AAA baseball semifinals after a 3-1 victory over the Hamburg Hawks Saturday afternoon at Northern York High School.

Adam Forsythe led the Littlestown charge offensively with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI, having a hand in all three runs. Ryan Kehr pitched lights out baseball for the victors, striking out eight and walking two while pitching his way out of several jams.

The Hawks opened up the scoring in the first inning when Brandon Fry scored on a Jacob Lenkiewicz RBI double.

That lead was short-lived though as Forsythe scored after reaching base on a single to left field. Todd Cook plated Forsythe with a sacrifice fly.

The second through fourth innings featured mostly a lot of dominance from Kehr and Hamburg pitcher Ryan Cominsky. Neither had to deal with more than one base runner at a time. In the fifth inning, Kehr faced quite possibly his most trying situation.

After forcing Jordan Youndt into a ground out, Robert Henne singled to center field. And after a Fry flyout, things looked good for Kehr until Tyler Seidel singled to left field advancing Henne to third base. Kehr was able to get out of the inning as Cook made a fantastic play from the hole at short to beat Atkinson by half a step.

After a Ryan Strevig walk, sandwiched between two outs, Forsythe singled to right field scoring Strevig from second for the go-ahead run to make it 2-1. Then with Logan Mummert at the plate, Forsythe stole second and then scored on Mummert's bloop double to center, making it 3-1.

In the sixth, Kehr worked out of a two-on, two-out jam to take the lead to the seventh.

After forcing Henne to ground out, Fry and Seidel reached base on back-to-back singles and after two straight balls to Atkinson, Kehr and the Thunderbolts looked to be in trouble. Kehr worked the count back even at 2-2 and then forced Atkinson to swing and miss for the second out of the inning.

Three pitches later the Thunderbolts were headed on to face Lampeter-Strasburg on Tuesday at Hershey High School when Lenkiewicz lined out to right field.
