With the song "Celebration" blasting around the Dover Natatorium during the post-dual meet handshake, both the host Eagles and York Suburban had a reason to sing along.

The rivalry meet, which has typically determined the YAIAA Division II champions in both the boys' and girls' leagues, featured fast swims on each side. It just didn't have close final scores.

Dover won the much-anticipated girls' matchup, 111-72, and Suburban romped in the boys' meet, 115-65.

The Eagle girls took charge from the opening relay and remain unbeaten on the season with a 7-0 overall mark -- 2-0 in Division II. After Dover earned 13 points on the diving board without competition, the Eagles won the next seven events and broke two pool records in the process.

"Never did I think we would not win the meet. (But) how much by? No. It does (surprise me)," Dover coach Rich Janosky said. "It really did take me that the girls put that much into the meet. Suburban is a very good team."

Aniella Janosky followed Morgan Stambaugh's impressive score of 243.45 in diving by swimming a 58.29 in the 100 butterfly for her second individual win of the day. Janosky also bettered a Dover pool record that was set in 1988 by Becky Krone.

Nicole Smith followed with her second individual win of the night -- a 54.67 in the 100 freestyle. Rachel Spaulding went 5:23.27 to capture the 500 free.

"It felt really good. It's always nice to go out with your best and make it exciting," Smith said. "You know this team is behind you. We came together as a really great team."

The trio of Janosky, Smith and Spaulding then combined with Mia Becker to swim a winning time of 1:41.90 in the 200 free relay to set another pool mark, besting the one swam by Spring Grove in 2002.

"That was very, very surprising," Aniella Janosky said of the two records. "Everyone seemed to beat what they were supposed to do."

Summer Dacheux (100 backstroke, 1:01.07) and Bree Link (100 breaststroke, 1:12.55) also earned wins for the Eagles. Dacheux combined with Spaulding, Smith and Janosky for victory in the 400 relay. Dacheux, Link, Shea Beierschmitt and Becker started the meet with a 1:56.85 in the 200 medley relay.

"I am impressed with what the Dover girls did," Trojans coach Craig Brennan said. "They were solid from the beginning of the meet to the end."

Erin Merkle was the lone winner for Suburban (4-2, 1-1), with her dominating performance of 2:14.36 in the 200 individual medley.

In the boys' meet, Trojan captains Will Massey, Kyle Posenau and Nolan Walker led by example, winning two individual events each, helping Suburban improve to 2-4 overall, 2-0 in the division.

Posenau (200 free, 500 free), Massey (200 IM, 100 free) and Walker (100 fly, 100 back) helped the Trojans open up a big enough lead that even the 10-0 points lost in diving mattered none. The diving was won by Dover's Jake Riddle.

Massey and Walker were victorious with John Spinello and Mitchell Holsinger in the medley relay. Massey anchored Drew Lighthiser, John Spinello and Matt Spinello in the 200 free relay. Walker and Posenau teamed with Alex Fridman and Matt Spinello to win the 400 free relay.

"It's a great rivalry. Everyone was psyched up. It's a great atmosphere to come out and race," Massey said.

Fridman's 25.02 in the 50 free gave Suburban a 43-19 lead prior to the diving.

"We had to find out who we were as a boys' team. We've started to get a grip of that," Brennan said. "The leadership, you can see it. Not just in the pool, but the locker room."

Dover (2-5, 1-1) senior Curtis Harman captured the only race for the home team, with his swim of 1:13.00 in the 100 breast.
