PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Lexy Junker, Fairfield: The junior team captain helped the Green Knights to an undefeated league season and the division crown behind an impressive stat line.
The three-time player of the year scored three or more goals in 12 of her 17 games. Junker finished with team-high 42 goals and was third on the team with eight assists.
"You never have to ask her to give more on the field," Fairfield coach Jackie Suchanek said. "She is a team player and gives 100 percent."
Junker also was named to the all-state team, becoming the first Fairfield player to earn the honor.
Olivia Moore, Biglerville: The senior was the team leader in goals the past four seasons. She scored a total of 50 goals and had 13 assists in her Canners career. Moore will play soccer in college at Cedarville University in Ohio.
Karina Padilla, Biglerville: The senior was the second leading scorer for the eight-win Canners. She was the leader in assists for the team during the past two seasons.
Rachel Wilkins, Bermudian Springs: The senior scored a goal during the Eagles' senior day victory against Delone Catholic.
Marianne Freed, Delone Catholic: The senior had an assist in a loss to Bermudian Springs. The Squirettes finished with three wins.
Erin Donaldson, Fairfield: The senior center defender finished with one assist for the 14-win Green Knights. "She not only controls the defensive line, but the entire team," Suchanek said. "She is the foundation of our team."
Katelyn McDonald, Fairfield: The senior left midfielder was second on the team with 13 goals and nine assists. "She has the best foot skills of any player on our team," Suchanek said. "When watching her play, she makes her moves look effortless and graceful."
Destinee Winhauer, Hanover: The senior goalie had a number of saves this season, including 13 in a defeat to Delone and 10 in an overtime loss to Littlestown.
Sarah Bentajar, Littlestown: The senior scored a goal in a win over Delone. Bentajar scored twice in an October loss to Bermudian.
Kathleen Johnson, York Catholic: The senior scored 24 goals and assisted on five others. She had three games of scoring three goals or more. "She was our emotional leader this year," Irish coach Ryan Luckman said.
Hannah Laslo, York Catholic: The sophomore had a 1.21 goals against average. She had 10 shutouts for the season, including blanking Bishop McCort in the first round of the state tournament. Laslo also had 24 saves in a 2-1 loss to Dallastown in the YAIAA tournament.
CO-COACHES OF THE YEAR
Jackie Suchanek, Fairfield: The coach led the Green Knights to the first division title in program history with an undefeated 12-0 league mark. Fairfield finished 14-3 for the season after a loss in the quarterfinal round of the District 3 Class A tournament. Suchanek was quick to credit assistant coach Brion FitzGerald also for the team's success.
"With all the talented athletes we had on the team this year, it was just a matter of being able to find who worked best at which position," Suchanek said.
Ryan Luckman, York Catholic: The Fighting Irish went 10-2 in the division and then finished third in the District 3 Class A tournament before knocking off District 6 champion Bishop McCort in the first round of the PIAA tournament. Catholic lost in the quarterfinal round to eventual state champion Greensburg Central Catholic to finish at 15-8.
"This group of girls wanted to succeed and did everything they could to make sure they were successful," Luckman said.
