The Red Lion girls' basketball team built a 10-point lead after the first quarter and rode the hot hands of Courtney Dimoff and Jen Horvatinovic to a 70-39 victory against J.P. McCaskey in the Lady Lion Tip-Off Tournament.

Dimoff scored 11 of her game-high 19 points in the second quarter, while Horvatinovic sprinkled her 18 points throughout the game. Dimoff scored all five of the Lions' 3-pointers.

Ana Edmondson scored 15 points to lead the Red Tornado.

Red Lion advanced to today's championship game against Manheim Township, which defeated Boiling Springs, 57-26.

Bulldog Tip-Off Tournament at Big Spring


   --- South Western 48, Middletown 41: Holly Arey led a balanced Mustang attack in a semifinal victory.

Arey scored 13 points to pace eight South Western scorers as the Mustangs pulled away from a 19-18 halftime lead and outscored Middletown 13-9 in the fourth period.

Amy Spigelmyer knocked down the game's lone 3-pointer for South Western.

   --- Millersburg 34, Fairfield 31: The Green Knights will play in today's 2 p.m. consolation game after Millersburg overcame a 17-14 halftime deficit.

"We just did not shoot the ball particularly well in the third quarter," said Fairfield head coach Ken Brown, who was pleased with his team's defensive effort.

Madison Engle scored 10 points for Millersburg, which held Fairfield to four third-period points.

Erin Donaldson scored the game's lone 3-pointer and finished with 11 for Fairfield.

"We played hard. I thought our defense did a nice job," Delone Catholic head coach Gerry Eckenrode said after the Squires advanced to today's championship game.
