The York Catholic girls' soccer team took control to win its PIAA Class A first-round matchup vs. District 6 champion Bishop McCort, 2-0, at Richland High School in Johnstown.
Natasha Vadas scored an unassisted goal from 25 yards out after trapping the ball 20 minutes in to the first half.
"We just kept our patience and then we got a couple of goals," York Catholic head coach Ryan Luckman said.
The Fighting Irish found another scoring opportunity in the second half, when Elizabeth Johnson scored on a rebound with her left foot, after a pass from Lisa Casagrande was knocked away by the Crushers' goalkeeper.
York Catholic outshot Bishop McCort 15-2, with goalie McKenzie Barbin making 12 saves for the Crushers.
"The girls played really well," Luckman said. "They got to the ball first."
Hannah Laslo made two saves for York Catholic, which had a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.
York Catholic will face District 7 champion Greensburg-Central Catholic in the Class A quarterfinals on Saturday. A time and location haven not yet been announced.
