South Western works hard to reach YAIAA volleyball semifinals

York, PA - Erin Harman's double-double paced South Western in their 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-21) quarterfinal victory over York Suburban at Dallastown.

Harman registered 12 kills and 12 digs along with two aces for South Western. Sarah Bortner led the defensive effort with 23 digs. Mariah Krumrine was the engine that kept the offensive machine going as she passed out a team-high 25 assists. Krumrine also added six kills, 10 digs and four aces.

The Trojans were in each game, but ultimately came up short in all three. Alexis Gettle led the team with 29 assists. She also contributed five digs and three aces. Kayla Gibbs had a double-double of her own, with 13 kills and 12 digs. She also had an ace.

South Western advances to face Central York in tonight's 6 p.m. semifinals.

The championship is set for 7:30 p.m. at Dallastown.

Susquehannock rolls into semifinals: The Warriors dominated York Catholic to advance to the YAIAA semifinals (25-9, 25-12, 25-19).

Led by Abigail Bentz's nine kills, Susquehannock's attack was on fire. Leah Deter and Caroline Savin added six kills each, Abbey Barnhart had four, and Brittney Fitzgerald contributed three.

Rachel Moltz was an assist machine, handing out 28 total. Bentz, Genna Weger and Beth Garrison all had 10 digs in a solid defensive effort.

Susquehannock faces Delone in the 6 p.m. semifinals at Dallastown.

Gallagher, Swartz lift Panthers: Central York had two players with double-digits kills to lead the Panthers into the semifinals with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20) with over New Oxford.

Sydney Gallagher (11 kills) and Hadley Swartz (17 kills) paced Central's offense. Erin Dobbeck fed Gallagher and Swartz the ball as she totaled 38 assists. Alexis Biesecker had seven digs and four aces, while Naya Cheatem added six kills, five digs, a block, and an ace.

Central York advances to face South Western in the 6 p.m. semifinals at Dallastown.
