Midway through the third quarter, Chambersburg High appeared on its way to an easy victory in the championship game of the Gettysburg Lions Club Holiday Tournament on Friday night at Gettysburg High School.

Apparently, Delone Catholic didn't get that message.

The Squires erased an 11-point deficit to lead by a point going to the fourth quarter, and then led by two with three minutes to go before the Trojans stormed back for the 60-54 victory.

Chambersburg (6-3) assumed a 37-26 advantage when UCLA volleyball recruit Mitch Stahl stole the ball at midcourt and soared for the two-hand throw-down that had Squire head coach Jim Dooley calling for timeout.

Sophomore Devon Moore started Delone's march back into the game with a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer from the left corner.

Delone (5-3) continued to chip away before Jake Wiles' triple late in the frame put the Squires in front 46-45, a lead they took into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter swung back and forth before Delone took a 52-50 lead on Andrew Austin's trifecta with 3:22 left.

That was the last field goal of the contest for the Squires.

Tournament MVP Kellen Williams tied the game with a baseline jumper with 2:35 to go, then Stahl's second steal and slam with 2:18 left put the Trojans in front to stay.

"We weren't intense enough in the first half. We were in the second half," Dooley said. "We weren't smart enough throughout. But we had our chances and didn't convert them. We have to get a little bit smarter."

Williams followed his 21-point, 12-rebound night in Thursday's victory over Gettysburg with a 20-point, six-board effort in the title tilt.

"We saw that they could shoot, so we knew that we had to get in their shorts and guard them," Williams said. "We really focus on defense, and our size with Evason (Ogbonna) and Mitch in the back, lets the guards gamble on the perimeter knowing that they have our backs."

A tight first quarter that ended tied at 16 gave way to a good second quarter by Chambersburg as the Trojans took a 33-26 lead into the halftime break.

Stahl earned an all-tournament nod with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Moore paced the Squires with 19 points, before fouling out with 1:02 remaining, and notched an all-tournament selection. He was joined on the team by teammate Brett Smith, who put in 14 points to go with four boards and four assists.

Ogbonna made his presence felt on both ends of the court for the second straight night. On Friday, he put up 11 points to go with seven rebounds and three blocks.

In the consolation contest, Gettysburg took control early and never relinquished it. The hosts defeated Northeastern, 64-41.

A night after struggling offensively for three quarters, the Warriors followed their 34-point fourth quarter on Thursday with a 20-point quarter to start Friday's contest and led 32-23 at halftime.

Gettysburg (9-1) continued to expand the lead and led by as many as 27 points, with head coach Jeff Bair pulling his starters with just under three minutes left.

"We shared the ball well tonight," Bair said. "We made some extra passes and got some easier looks."

Cody Kiefer once again led the way for the Warriors with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Ben Kroll added 14.

Khalid Nwandu led the Bobcats with 17 points.
