There is plenty of speed, distance and height returning to York-Adams tracks this season.

On the boys' side, at some point there will be a 4x100 showdown between Dallastown and West York. Dallastown returns three of the four sprinters who combined to win the YAIAA race and go into districts with the second-fastest seed time. A disqualification prevented the relay from a possible medal and spot in the PIAA meet.

West York returns all four sprinters from the team that finished 1.21 behind the Wildcats at last year's league meet.

South Western senior Bernard Bell returns to defend his league 110 and 300 hurdle titles. He finished second in both at districts and third and seventh, respectively, in the state meet.

Susquehannock senior Matthew O'Brien returns for another shot at district and state distance gold to match the District 3 Class 3A cross country gold medal he won in the fall. After winning the 1,600 and 3,200 in last year's league meet, he finished sixth in the district 1,600 and second in the district 3,200. He was seventh in the PIAA 3,200.

Danny Pham also has one more year to claim a top spot in the district and state. The Central York senior won the league shot put title, finished fourth in the District 3 Class 3A meet and sixth at states.

YAIAA girls' track and field might start with Spring Grove's Laila Campbell, but it certainly doesn't end there. The talented junior is entertaining offers from the top college programs as she prepares to defend her back-to-back league, district and state titles in the 100 and 200.

Bermudian Springs sophomore Lily Carlson has the district title, but is looking for state gold. She won the District 3 Class 2A pole vault gold, and finished third at the state meet. She also ran both hurdle events, finishing second at districts and ninth at states in the 100 and ninth in the district 300 hurdle race.

Alison Watts, a junior at Bermudian Springs, also brought home district gold last year. After finishing second in the league triple jump competition, she won the Class 2A district title and finished fourth at states. She also finished fourth in the district long jump and sixth in district high jump.

A pair of seniors are hoping cross country success leads to medals on the track.

Last year, Susquehannock senior Nicole Dauberman finished fourth and fifth and in the league 1,600 and 3,200, respectively, and 13th in the district mile. Dallastown senior Kailey Granger was in the same neighborhood last year: second in the league 1,600 and 15th in districts, and 11th in the district 3,200.

This year they are in different classifications, and enter the track and field season with district cross country gold. Dauberman won the Class 2A title and finished seventh at states. Granger won the Class 3A title and finished fifth at states.
