York Catholic star girls' basketball player suffers ACL tear
York Catholic girls' basketball player Kate Bauhof suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament last week during an AAU tournament at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster County.
The non-contact injury occurred Friday, according to her father Ned Bauhof, who said Kate jumped in the air and came down awkwardly on her leg. Ned Bauhof said Kate received an MRI on Monday and will have surgery this Friday.
Ned Bauhof said the injury is just a tear of the ACL — there is no additional damage — and is hopeful for a full recovery. He said his daughter could return to the court at some point during the basketball season.

"Injuries are a part of sports," Ned Bauhof said. "I told her it's just a bump in the road and she will be back strong."
Kate Bauhof, who's entering her senior year with the Irish, led her team to a District 3 championship and the state final four of the Class 3A state tournament. The guard averaged 19.5 points per game and knocked down a YAIAA-best 60 3-pointers. She has 1,364 career points and has been a GameTimePA First Team All-Star the past two years.
