Annville-Cleona baseball lands 7 Section 4 all-stars

There has never been a good season on the diamond without great players.

Annville-Cleona's 13-win campaign this spring was no exception.

The Little Dutchmen landed seven team members on the 2016 Section Four all-star list, led by their four first-team selections. Mitch long, Hunter Long, Alec Barr and Eli Setlock were among the 14 players named as the best in all the section. No other ball club produced more first-teamers than Annville-Cleona.

Three Little Dutchmen also landed on the second team, including Setlock for his infield work, IF Tyler Talhelm and OF Tyler Schrader. Lebanon Catholic's Joe Gates and Noah Marinkov joined them on the second team.

Setlock was named to the first team as a pitcher, as was Barr, who also played shortstop. Mitch Long, the team's starting pitcher in its Lancaster-Lebanon League tournament quarterfinal, was listed as an outfielder. Senior Hunter Long is one of two catchers on the first team with Columbia's Gabe Grove.

Annville-Cleona largely cruised through section play this spring, save for a pair of defeats against eventual champion Lancaster Catholic. Following a down mid-season stretch, the Little Dutchmen won six of their last seven regular-season games before a 3-0 defeat in the L-L tournament against Section Two runner-up Ephrata.

Today they travel to No. 3 Upper Dauphin for their third district quarterfinal clash against the Troians in as many years. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
