Spring Grove female wrestler earns national medal

For the second straight year, Spring Grove's Kayla Kehr has placed in the top four at the USA Wrestling Cadet Women's National Championships. 

An incoming sophomore at Spring Grove, Kehr took fourth place in the 100-pound weight group at this year's tournament, which took place Monday and Tuesday in Fargo, North Dakota. Kehr finished third last year. 

After receiving a bye in the round of 32, Kehr defeated Colorado's Estrella Dorado Marin, 10-0, in her first match. She was beaten by California's Sofia Martinez, 6-0, in the quarterfinals but won two consolation matches to reach the third-place match. Kehr was again defeated by Martinez, 16-6, to finish fourth.

In addition, Gettysburg incoming freshman Montana Delawder competed at the tournament and finished with a 1-2 mark at 106 pounds. She won her opening match before losing in the round of 16 and consolations. 

The Cadet Women's National Championships featured freestyle wrestling and was attended by wrestlers from 37 different states.
