Red Lion's Posey named to all-region team

Red Lion graduate Ali Posey was one of three York College field hockey players who earned NFHCA All-South Region honors this week.

Posey, a junior, earned a second-team nod along with sophomore Lindsay Nye, while senior Sydney LaMarsh earned first-team honors.

Posey is making her third appearance on the all-region squad after being a first-team pick as a sophomore. She was also York's first NFHCA All-American last fall.

Posey finished her junior year with 30 points on 13 goals and four assists. She scored four game-winning goals for the Spartans as she ranked sixth in the Capital Athletic Conference in goals scored and seventh in points. Posey switched positions as a junior as she took on more responsibility in the Spartan midfield. That transition hurt her individual scoring numbers but helped the Spartans earn 13 victories.

"I am sure people looked at Ali's offensive numbers and think she had a down year," head coach Kaitlyn Hamilton said in a news release. "That couldn't be further from the truth. In reality, she was asked to do so much more in the midfield and she did a fantastic job. She possesses such great stick skills and that allowed her to dominate in the middle of the field for us. We certainly don't have the year we had without Ali playing the way she did this year."

Posey ended her junior year with 99 points on 43 goals and 13 assists in 58 career games as a Spartan. Posey had a pair of hat tricks during the year, turning the feat in the 5-2 win over Lynchburg and again in the CAC win over Frostburg State.
