Red Lion grads named all-conference at York College

Red Lion graduates Ali Posey and Alexa Taylor earned all-conference honors for the York College field hockey team on Thursday.

Posey earned first-team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors, and Taylor was named to the second team. They're joined by three York College teammates who were honored.

Posey makes her third appearance on the first team after finishing with 30 points on 13 goals and four assists for the year. She had four game-winning goals for the Spartans and ranked sixth in the CAC in goals scored and seventh in points. Posey switched positions as a junior, taking on more responsibility in the Spartans midfield. That transition hurt her individual scoring numbers but was incredibly important in the Spartans' jump to 13 victories.

"I am not sure that people outside the program understood that Ali was playing a different role for us this year," head coach Kaitlyn Hamilton said in a news release. "It would be easy to say she didn't have as good a year but in reality, she was fantastic for us. Without her willingness to do what it takes for us to win, we would not have been able to accomplish what we did as a team."

Taylor is making her first All-CAC appearance after starting all 19 games. She teamed with Sydney LaMarsh to give York a one-two punch on defense. Taylor finished the year with 12 points on three goals and six assists as she was York's primary inserter on penalty corner plays. She finished tied for sixth in the CAC in assists.

"I couldn't be happier for Alexa," Hamilton said. "She has worked extremely hard to make herself into an all-conference caliber player. Alexa is proof that hard work and dedication really does pay off. Her leadership and determination really came shining through this year."

Also earning first-team honors were sophomore forward Lindsay Nye and senior defender LaMarsh. Junior forward Autumn Mallory joined Taylor on the second team.
