A scholarship in memory of Amanda Strous has been established through the Dallastown Foundation Scholarship Committee, according to a news release.

Strous, a 2007 graduate of Dallastown High School, was murdered earlier this year in North Carolina. She had played soccer and field hockey all four years at the school. She also played field hockey at Shippensburg University.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to a Dallastown student. The recipient must demonstrate strong academic performance; school, community and charitable involvement; skill enrichment and work experience in accordance with the objective criteria of the committee, the news release states. The recipient also must have participated in field hockey and/or held a leadership position (such as captain or co-captain) and/or is pursuing further education in the field of psychology, counseling or art.

Eric and Crystal Strous, Amanda's parents, started the scholarship in memory of their daughter. Anyone who has children who were impacted by Amanda's passion for sports and her helping hand and listening ear may donate to the scholarship fund.

Checks can be made payable to the Dallastown Foundation Scholarship Committee. Amanda Strous Memorial Scholarship should be included in the memo portion of the check.

Donations can be sent to Dallastown Foundation Scholarship Committee, Attn. Ashley Spector, 700 New School Lane, Dallastown, PA 17313.
