Fundraiser for Amanda Strous being held in N.C.

Saturday would have been Amanda Strous' wedding day, and a CrossFit gym in the Charlotte area will be hosting a fundraiser in her memory.

Strous, a Dallastown native, was killed last month at her apartment in Charlotte. Mathew Benner, who lived in the same apartment complex, has been charged with murder and arson.

CrossFit Pineville is hosting the workout fundraiser. Strous' fiance, Cory McCleaf, works as a coach at the gym, and Strous worked out there with him, said Katie Shoop, Strous' roommate.

"We want this day to be a special one, to celebrate her light, to embody it and to share it with each other," an Eventbrite post states.

T-shirts saying "FLYHIGH22" are available for sale as part of the fundraiser. Number 22 was her field hockey number at Shippensburg University.

The money raised will go toward a scholarship fund in Strous' memory and to support her fiance, the post states.

To donate or buy a T-shirt, visit the Eventbrite site listing for the fundraiser.
