Wolfgram pins district champ to cap Central York's dominant night

It may have been the second-to-last match of the night, but the atmosphere at Northeastern High School was electric Tuesday when Central York heavyweight Michael Wolfgram squared up against defending district champion Blaine Yinger of Northeastern.

The visiting Panthers had already claimed put away the match victory, but a lot was at stake in the 285-pound weight class.

With all of the hype and buzz surrounding it, Wolfgram wanted to make a statement. And on Tuesday night, he did just that.

The sophomore, who was ranked fifth in the state heading into the match, pinned Yinger in the third period to earn the victory and the team's final points of the night.

"Other than qualifying for states, that was one of my most favorite (moments)," Wolfgram said. "It was really good to go out there and show that I work just as hard as him, maybe a little bit harder."

Central York sped to a 30-0 lead before Northeastern got on the board with a pin. From there, the Panthers won five of the final eight bouts for the 54-18 triumph.

"Our guys wrestled well, " head coach Seth Beitz said. They kept building the lead and wrestled their style."

"It was a lot of fun to watch."
