Gettysburg defeats Kennard-Dale in opener

Gettysburg 46, Kennard-Dale 20: 

With Gettysburg leading 13-7 after five bouts, the Warriors' Joe Pecaitis and Rams' Andrew Barnett stepped to the mat for a 145-pound match that would go a long way in determining the outcome.

Pecaitis, a returning sectional champion, registered the key 6-4 victory that gave the visitors some breathing room and a lead that would balloon rapidly. Dan Ziegler's follow-up pin just about put things away.

The Rams were never able to recover, winning just two matches the rest of the way and dropping five of the remaining matches by fall.

The loss was the first for the Rams in Division II since the YAIAA went to a three-division setup two years ago. Kennard-Dale had gone a combined 14-0 in the last two seasons while Gettysburg was 6-6 over the same time.
