Roundup: Central knocks off South Western

Steven Clawson’s major decision victory at 160 pounds helped Central York beat South Western, 37-28, for the Panthers' first win against the Mustangs in at least a decade.

Central sped to an early 24-6 lead before Derek Wilson's tech fall at 126 pounds pulled the Mustangs back to within 24-17.

In a crucial swing match at 132 pounds, Central's Xavier Musti defeated Gavin Smith, 14-8, putting the Panthers ahead, 27-17, with Central's Dylan Chatterton still lurking.

After the Mustangs got a tech fall from Owen Wherley to pull within five, Chatterton needed just 1:47 for a pin to regain the lead.

South Western's Gage Thomas won by fall at 152 pounds, setting up a pin-or-lose situation for teammate Tyler Osborne at 160-pounds. But Clawson got the major decision to seal the Panthers' victory.

Bonus points also played a key role as the Panthers received three major decisions early and one late, all with eight-point victory margins, affording the hosts four extra points. Meanwhile, the Mustangs left at least two points on the board with tech falls by Wilson and Wherley.
