Rams clinch share of YAIAA D-II crown

On a night the Kennard-Dale wrestling team clinched at least a share of their second straight YAIAA Division II crown, there wasn't a lot of grappling going on.

A combined eight forfeits overshadowed the match between the Rams and visiting Dover. The match took less than an hour to complete, with K-D coming away with a 49-27 victory.

"We got one more (league) match. We can't lay up yet," Rams head coach Mike Balestrini said. "We'll be happier if things go our way against Susky on Tuesday."

K-D's Michael Bracey wrestled one of only six matches on the night and he came away with a pin at 2:51 of his 132-pound bout against Hunter Failor.

"I was just trying to go out and get done what the team needed me to get done," Bracey said.

Bracey, who has over 100 career wins and sports a hair style been termed as a 'blue rat hawk,' has led the Rams by continuing his undefeated season.

"Honestly it feels great. We've been working our butts off and make sure we've been at the top of our game. To see the look on everybody faces when they win is really great," Bracey said.

The Rams (10-5, 5-0 Division II) picked up forfeit wins at 106, 126, 138, 145 and 160.

Dover (2-11, 1-4) won at 152, 185 and 192 via forfeit.

Austin Richcreek started the match off with a pin at 1:19 for Dover at 220 pounds.
