Roundup: Mackley secures Eastern's win


Here are Thursday's York/Adams wrestling results.

Eastern York 42, Dover 30: Dakota Mackley secured the home win for the Golden Knights in the final match of the night.

The Eagles led, 30-24, heading into the final three bouts after Matthew Lehman pinned Dylan Prugar at 145 pounds in 1:36.

Unfortunately for Dover, it suffered back-to-back forfeits after Lehman’s win and trailed 36-30 heading into the final match. Mackley ended the Eagles’ hope of a tie as he pinned Jason Martinez in 3:22 at 170 pounds.

Biglerville 63, York County Tech 12: The Canners used six pins, four of which were recorded in less than a minute, in the big road win.

Victor Lopez started the match with the quickest pin of the night as he took down Tech’s George Ellenberger in 27 seconds at 220 pounds.

Susquehannock 43, Littlestown 29: The Warriors jumped out to a 24-12 lead after six bouts despite not winning a match on the mat. Susquehannock held on from there, winning some key bouts down the stretch in their victory over the Thunderbolts.

With a 30-21 lead, Warrior Dakota Hess scrapped to a 6-5 decision at 132 pounds that pushed the Susquehannock lead to 33-21 with four bouts remaining, including one a forfeit in their favor.

Two bouts later, Nathan Ball sealed the victory with a 15-2 major decision to push the lead to 37-25.

Connor Geiman (182), Matt Guilday (220) and Josh Trousdale (113) each recorded falls early for the Thunderbolts to keep the hosts in the match early despite the forfeits.

Dallastown 33, New Oxford 28: Two victories in two overtime matches helped propel the Wildcats to the win.

The first of two overtime bouts came at 132 pounds as Dalton Daugherty defeated Brennon Romanoff, 3-2 in rideouts. Just two weights later, Ben Hyman defeated Matthew Poust, 11-10 in ultimate tie-breakers, a huge swing on the scoreboard that allowed the visitors to cut into the early Colonial lead as they trailed just 22-15. A loss in either would have given the Colonials the match.

Hayden Jones continued the Wildcat momentum with a fall at 152 to make it 22-21 Colonials. Nolan Poust’s fall in 1:34 at 160 pushed the hosts lead to 28-21 before Drake Pew answered in 1:28 to make it 28-27.

At 182 pounds, Cameron Green beat Derrick Rudisill, 6-0, to give the Wildcats their first lead since a 9-6 lead after three bouts before Jack Marks closed out the win with a 10-3 decision at 195 pounds to clinch the win.
