Roundup: Eastern lines up pins to beat Tech


Eastern York picked up six falls, including five in the first period, to earn a 60-21 victory against York County Tech on Monday.

Eastern 182-pounder Jahshim Snyder had the fast fall, finishing off his opponent in 22 seconds. Wyatt Smith (285) also pinned his opponent in under a minute, picking up the win in 36 seconds.

The Spartans received two falls, the fastest by 113-pounder Sam Hoover in 2:59.

Saturday's late results

Travis Manion tournament: Kennard-Dale's Mike Bracey and Andrew Barnett each took home titles at the Travis Manion tournament at LaSalle High School.
Bracey won the 132-pound weight class with a 7-5 win over York Suburban's Dustin Knaub, while Barnett took the 138-pound class with a 17-0 tech fall of York Suburban's Pearce Bloom.

The Trojans did take home a winner as Adoniyah Johnson won the 220-pound weight class with a 4-1 win over Neshaminy's Michael Bremser. Also falling the finals for the Trojans was Nick Knight (106), Colin Shelton (120) and Anders Thomas (145).

Penn Manor tournament: 145-pounder Dylan Chatterton won his 100th career match en route to a second place finish at the Penn Manor tournament. The senior recorded a fall and two decisions before losing to Governor Mifflin's Zach Sheetz, 6-3 in the final. Teammate Orion Musti finished third at 138-pounds while 182-pounder Isaiah Dickson added a fourth-place finish. Also finishing on the podium for the Panthers was 113-pounder Hoang Pham (eighth), 132-pounder Xavier Musti (sixth) and 285-pounder Michael Wolfgram (seventh).

U.S. Air Force Indian Classic: Spring Grove and Red Lion each took the trip to Dobyns-Bennett in Tennessee for the U.S. Air Force Indian Classic and brought back some hardware. As a team, Spring Grove finished fourth in the tough field with 150.5 points. Archer High School in Georgia, ranked 13th nationally according to intermatwrestle.com, finished first with 231.5 points. Red Lion finished 13th with 92 points.

Spring Grove's Clay Baker was the lone local champion, winning the 106-pound class with a pair of falls, a major decision and a 5-4 victory in the final over Tennessee High's Trent Nelson.

Two Lions came away with second-place finishes. 182-pounder Zach Shaffer reached the final with a decision, major decision and tech fall lost in overtime tiebreakers to Gibb's Hunter Fortner, 2-0. Teammate Jared Schell lost to Archer's Jacob Lill by fall at 285 pounds.

A pair of Rockets also added third-place finishes. Dalton Rohrbaugh lost in the quarterfinals at 113, but battled back to finish third. Teammate Josh Cribbs lost his opening match at 195, then recorde six straight pins to finish third.

Other placers for Spring Grove were Jacob Meyer (fifth at 126), Anthony Hinson (seventh at 132), Tanner Sterner (eighth at 145), Marcus Kehr (fifth at 160) and Owen Jacobs (fifth at 285). Red Lion added two more placers in 152-pounder Dylan Gurreri (fifth) and 220-pounder Josh Reyes (eighth).
