York Suburban, Dallastown team up for charity

The York Suburban boys' volleyball team will hold its eighth annual white out event May 3 during the Trojans' game against Dallastown.

The Trojans partner with their opponent to raise money for charity through the event, which is held every year in memory of two York Suburban volleyball fathers, Clark Fisher and John Yorgey Sr., who died after battling cancer.

Last year’s event raised just over $9,000, with the money going to the Cancer Patient Help Fund and Red Lion's Mini-Thon.

This year, the volleyball team hopes to raise $10,000. The Trojans will raise funds for the Cancer Patient Help Fund. They will also donate a portion of the funds to the Clark E. Fisher Memorial Scholarship, a Penn State York scholarship for students studying engineering. And as Suburban's on-court opponent, Dallastown will raise money for Olivia's House, which provides bereavement therapy services for children in York.

In 2013, York Suburban teamed with Eastern York to raise money for Golden Knights senior Brandon Hohenadel, who was battling leukemia.
