Penn Relays accepts five from YAIAA
Five YAIAA athletes have been accepted to take part in one of the most prestigious track & field meets in the country.
The annual Penn Relays, which were first held in 1895, will take place April 28-30 at University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field in Philadelphia, and these athletes have been invited to take part:
Alexis Baublitz, Central York: Baublitz was accepted in the pole vault. She placed third at districts and qualified for states in that event last year and currently holds the league lead with a vault of 11 feet.
Nathalie Elliot, Spring Grove: Elliot qualified in the pole vault. She currently holds the second best vault in the league behind Baublitz with a leap of 10 feet, six inches.
Lynne Mooradian, South Western: Mooradian qualified in the 400 hurdles. A state medal winner in two events last season, Mooradian currently holds the league lead in the 300 hurdles with a time of 45.5 seconds.
Greg Potter, Red Lion: Potter qualified in the pole vault. He's been the most dominant boys pole vaulter in the YAIAA and currently owns the league lead with a vault of 14-3.
Madi Smith, New Oxford: Smith qualified in the javelin. She took second in the state in that event last season and currently owns the second-best winning throw in the league with a toss of 124-7.
