White Rose Invitational canceled for 2016

After 22 straight years, the White Rose Invitational track and field meet will not take place this year at Central York High School. The annual event is hosted by the school's booster club, but after members who ran the invitational last year left no one stepped in to run this year’s event.

The invite also had not raised as much money as in previous years, according to Central track coach Chris Detwiler.

The annual track and field competition is one of the largest in York County, according to Central’s website. Runners from across Central Pennsylvania compete in the meet, which is sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools and officiated by PIAA.
