West York girls have banner day at Dover Invitational


The West York girls' swim team had multiple winners Saturday at the Dover Invitational.

Courtney Harnish had first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1 minute, 51.09 seconds) and 100 fly (56.27); Claudia Keller won the 200 individual medley (2:17.77) and 100 backstroke (1:02.43); Tesia Thomas captured the 50 free (25.33); and Meghan French grabbed first overall in the 500 free (5:12.99).

All were also part of various West York relay teams that took home first place finishes: the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Erica Sarver also finished first for West York in the 1 meter diving competition with 232 points.

Other YAIAA girls' swimmers who fared well were Dover's Lindsey Brenneman, who took home first in the 100 free (57.39) and second in the 100 fly (1:03.12); and Biglerville's Sarah Hardy, who finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.78) and second in the 200 IM (2:22.04).

On the boys' side, YAIAA first place finishers were Gettysburg's Jared Herr (200 free, 1:51.57); Susquehannock's Logan McFadden (500 free, 4:55.76); and Dover's Silas Barnes (1 meter dive, 122.50 points).

Herr also finished second in the 500 free (4:56.05) while McFadden was a second place finisher in the 200 IM.
