District 3 swim championships: What to watch

Thanks to Erica Sarver winning her second straight Class AA diving championship last week, West York enters the weekend leading in the team points standings.

With several high seeds, including the 200-yard medley and 400 free relays, the YAIAA Division II co-champion Bulldogs are hoping for their first district team title.

Taylor Hoover is seeded second in the 200 individual medley as is teammate Maelyn Elder in the 100 butterfly. Meghan French is seeded third in the 500 free. All three are high seeds in other events as well.

Of course, one those teams standing in their way is the YAIAA rival the Bulldogs shared the regular-season title with — York Suburban.

However, both squads will need to be on the lookout for Northern York, which has several high seeds, both in individual events and relays, which earn the most team points.

Here's a look at the other York-Adams swimmers who received top-three seeds for the district meet:

Girls' swimming

Dallastown’s Kacey Oberlander is No. 1 in the AAA girls’ 200 IM, and is tops in the 100 backstroke, posting the district’s fastest time by more than a second.

Eastern York’s Madison Nalls enters as the top seed in the girls’ AA 200 free in front of reigning district and PIAA champ Carson Gross of York Suburban. Nalls is also the second seed in the 500 free.

Gross is also the No. 2 seed in the 100 free, plus she is a part of the Trojans’ 200 free relay team that is top-ranked.

Delone Catholic's Caroline Dudenhoeffer is second in the 100 breaststroke.

Boys' swimming

Gettysburg's Jared Herr is No. 2 in the Class AA 500 free for a Warriors squad looking to make some noise. Teammate Chandler Desotelle is third in the 200 free.

Dover’s Casey Marshall sits third entering the AA 100 fly.

Alec Peckmann from Central York is ranked second in the AAA 200 free and third in the 100 free. He is a part of the Panthers’ 200 free relay team that’s also second.

Dallastown boys’ 400 free relay is the second seed and the Wildcats' medley relay is third in AAA. Three Wildcats picked up individual third-place seeds: Spencer Hill (100 fly), Jacob Stoner (50 free) and Grant Wertz (100 breaststroke). Hill is also second in the 100 backstroke.

Alex Sun of Red Lion, a freshman, is poised for his first district meet as a third seed in the AAA 200 IM. It’s the same position as the Lions' Dylan North in the 500.
