Weather washes out 3 PIAA softball games
Three YAIAA softball teams will have to wait for their state postseason to get underway.
Central York, Spring Grove and Kennard-Dale all had their PIAA first-round games moved from Monday to Tuesday due to inclement weather in the region.
The Panthers, the District 3 Class 6A third-place finishers, are now scheduled to play Hempfield Area High School at 4 p.m. at California University in Washington County, Pa. Hempfield Area High School was the District 7 first-place finisher this season.
In Class 5A, District 3 second-place finisher Spring Grove will take on Bishop Shanahan at 4 p.m. at Messiah College. Bishop Shanahan was a District 1 third-place finisher.
And in Class 4A, District 3 first-place finisher Kennard-Dale will square off against District 12 second-place finisher Esperanza at 4:30 p.m. at York College.
Those three games will join what is already a loaded playoff lineup for Tuesday.
In the PIAA Class 2A girls' lacrosse bracket, two local teams will face off in the semifinals round when Susquehannock takes on Kennard-Dale. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Spring Grove Area High School.
This will be the third time the two YAIAA rivals meet. Kennard-Dale beat Susquehannock early in the season, 15-12 on April 4. Susquehannock returned the favor in the District 3 championship game, however, beating the Rams 13-12.
And in the PIAA boys' volleyball semifinals, Northeastern will play Manheim Township at Red Lion Area High School in the Class 2A bracket. In Class 3A, Central York will hit the road for Exeter Township in Reading to square off against Emmaus. Both of those contests are scheduled for 7 p.m.
