Last day to buy tickets for GTPA awards banquet

A two-time Super Bowl champion hailing from York County will be in attendance June 9 to help recognize this year's top YAIAA high school athletes at the first GameTimePA Athlete of the Year Awards banquet.

Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn will deliver the keynote speech at the banquet, which will also crown the GameTimePA Players of the Year from each sport in the 2015-16 school year.

GameTimePA.com expects to attract 600 players, family members and interested members of the public to the event at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in West Manchester Township.

The last day to buy tickets is May 31. Click here to reserve your seat today.

"The GameTimePA all-star teams are filled with top-notch student-athletes who dedicate a serious amount of time to excelling in their sport," said Lyzz Jones, Hanover Evening Sun news director and one of the event organizers. "This banquet is the next step in recognizing that effort."

Kuhn was a four-sport athlete at Dover Area High School before playing football at Shippensburg University. The undrafted free agent worked his way from being a practice squad player to winning two Super Bowl titles with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers.

"We thought (John) Kuhn was a very good choice," said event organizer George Sepic, vice president of new business development for the York Daily Record. "Not only because of his ties to York County but his story is also very inspiring. He went from Dover, to Shippensburg, to being a practice squad player, then the Pittsburgh Steelers and a Pro Bowl with the Green Bay Packers. His story will be good for them to hear."

After the speech, GameTimePA will unveil the Players of the Year for all 22 YAIAA varsity sports. In addition to honoring the first-team all-stars, GameTimePA will present a series of specialty honors: the Energy Award, Courage Award, male Athlete of the Year and female Athlete of the Year.

A limited number of general admission tickets will be available to the public beginning May 9. For more information about the event and ticket sales go to http://athleteawards.gametimepa.com.
