Alleged hazing investigated at Susquehannock football

The Southern York County School District and Southern Regional Police are investigating an alleged locker room hazing incident involving Susquehannock's ninth-grade football team, according to Supt. Sandra Lemmon.

The alleged hazing took place in a team locker room Oct. 16 and also involved eighth grade students. Police were immediately notified over the weekend when the district learned of what had happened, Lemmon said.

While the school district wouldn't disclose any specifics of what hazing took place, Lemmon added that no one was injured in the alleged incident.

"Obviously we're following protocol and conducting a full investigation," Lemmon added. "We don't condone or tolerate any hazing behavior."

The school district released the following statement:

"The school district administration learned this past weekend of a locker room hazing incident involving the ninth grade/junior varsity football team that took place Friday, October 16th. Upon learning of this incident, the administration immediately notified the Southern Regional Police Department, Childline and commenced its own internal investigation regarding this incident. The school district neither condones nor tolerates any form of hazing of its students, and appropriate measures are being taken to ensure that our students and coaches fully understand that such conduct is totally unacceptable with the school environment. The school district's investigation of this incident remains ongoing, and any students or parents who are aware of any hazing allegations are urged to contact Dr. Kevin Molin and Dr. Len Reppert to share that information."
