Delone Catholic, York Suburban tennis teams fall in District 3 Class AA quarterfinals

District 3, Class AA Quarterfinals

PEQUEA VALLEY 3, DELONE CATHOLIC 0 >> The fifth-seeded Braves dominated doubles play, cruising to the upset win over the fourth-seeded Squirettes in the quarterfinals of the District 3 girls' team tennis tournament at Hershey Racquet Club.

Sierra Glick and Sophia Weaver took the No. 1 doubles match for Pequea over Emily Jesko and Bridget Kilkelly (6-1, 6-2). In the No. 2 doubles match, the Braves' Grace Heinrich and Cara Yoder were able to hold off Emily Ritter and Maria Waminal in two tough sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Pequea Valley now advances to face top-seeded Berks Catholic on Wednesday at Hershey Racquet Club at 2 p.m.

Singles — Lenea Riehl, PV, def. Alysa Neudecker, 6-2, 6-0. Ellie Neudecker, DC, vs. Olivia Weaver, 6-4, 2-3 (DNF). Katie Thomas, DC, vs. Regan Donecker, 6-3, 0-6 (DNF).

Doubles — Sierra Glick-Sophia Weaver, PV, def. Emily Jesko-Bridget Kilkelly, 6-1, 6-2. Grace Heinrich-Cara Yoder, PV, def. Emily Ritter-Maria Waminal, 6-4, 6-4.

WYOMISSING 4, YORK SUBURBAN 1 >> The second-seeded Spartans took the quarterfinals match of the District 3 team tournament over the seventh-seeded Trojans at Hershey Racquet Club.

York Suburban's only win came from Bailey Cross, who lost her first set 7-6 and was leading the second when her opponent Kate Schreck withdrew from the match.

Wyomissing advances to take on the No. 3-seed Bishop McDevitt on Wednesday at Hershey Racquet Club at 3:15 p.m.
