College Spotlight: Dallastown's Reilly runs to front of pack in Patriot League

Lehigh's Patrick Reilly came up with a big effort in the recent Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, and the sophomore's performance got the notice of Mountain Hawks cross country coach Todd Etters.

"Pat has emerged as the front-runner for our team and in the Patriot League," Etters said. "What he did at the Paul Short simply reaffirmed what our team has been seeing out of him on a daily basis."

The former Dallastown Area standout finished 24th out of 278 runners in the Gold Division race with an 8k time of 24 minutes, 36 seconds. He helped Lehigh finish ninth in a field of 27 teams. As a freshman, Reilly finished 141st in the same race (25:34) and went on to finish 32nd in the league championship and 102nd in the NCAA Regionals.

"Pat's strength as a runner is that he is a fierce competitor," Etters said. "When he lines up to race, you know that he's going to be on top of his game and watching someone race with that kind of desire is a lot of fun."
