Saturday's girls' cross country roundup: Gettle races to top-10 finish at PIAA Foundation Invitational


Here are Saturday's York/Adams girls' cross country results.

PIAA FOUNDATION INVITATIONAL >> Olivia Gettle earned a ninth-place finish with a time of 20:11 at Saturday's ninth Annual PIAA Foundation Invitational at Hershey's Parkview Cross Country Course.

Gettle's top-10 finish helped lead York Suburban to a fifth-place finish in the girls' blue field with 213 pointse. Zette Pflaum, Cecilia Lantz and Brooke Ruth each added top-50 finishes to help pace the Trojans.

Villa Maria Academy finished first with 39 points. Abington Heights' Katie Dammer was the individual winner, clocking a time of 19:35.

In the white field, Delone Catholic's Leanne Sneeringer ran a 21:09, good for 21st place. Alyssa Alberghini added a top-50 finish, placing 41st in 21:57 as the Squirettes earned 10th place as a team. Vincentian Academy's Marianne Abdalah won in 19:01, but Central Cambria came away with the team victory thanks to four top 20 placers.

In the gold field, Bridget Palm finished 51st in 21:26 to pace Central York's runners. The Panthers placed 14th as a team with 402 points. Perkiomen Valley won with 96 points, led by Annie Glodek's win in 18:53.

CARLISLE INVITATIONAL >> Eastern York sophomore Maddie McLain finished 10th in 18:51 at the 23rd Carlisle Invitational. Downingtown West's Aislinn Devlin took home first place in 18:04. Cumberland Valley took home the team title with 136 points. Red Lion was the only full local team in the field, finishing 17th with 436 points.

Other locals in the field included Red Land's Skye Christian, who finished 14th in 19:23 and Red Lion's Tristan Schluderberg, a 40th-place finisher in 20:30.

In the girls' champion field, Eastern York's Olivia McLain finished seventh in 19:49. Cornwall's Victoria Caroli won the race in 18:46. Several other locals were in the field including West York's Bethany Weaver, who finished 14th in 20:01, and Northeastern freshman Micaela Bradley, a 24th-place finisher in 20:29. Northern York's Ashlyn Stonge cloced a 20:29 for 23rd. Cornwall won the team title with 87 points.
