Monday's District 3 volleyball roundup: Central York rebounds to sweep Cumberland Valley


While the first set was quite a challenge for Central York, the Panthers rallied Monday night and went on to sweep Cumberland Valley, 33-31, 25-19, 25-16, in the quarterfinals of the District 3 Class AAA tournament.

Jason Gardner pounded 15 kills and Jeremiah Dadeboe added 12 for Central York. Landon Shorts racked up 21 assists for the Panthers in the match played at Dallastown.

Up next is a familiar foe in Hempfield, which beat Exeter in straight sets.

LANCASTER MENNONITE 3, SPRING GROVE 0 >> Jarred Sand slammed 12 kills and made three blocks to lead the Blazers to the sweep in the quarterfinals of the District 3 Class AAA tournament, 25-22, 25-17, 21.

Spring Grove was led by Dalton Forbes, who had 13 kills and 11 digs.

The Rockets end their season with an overall record of 11-6.

SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 3, SUSQUEHANNOCK 2 >> The Panthers knocked the Warriors out of the District 3 Class AAA quarterfinals in a match that went five sets. Schuylkill Valley earned a 24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 25-27, 15-10 victory to advance to the semifinal round.

Susquehannock had three players with double-digit kills. AJ Schaeffer led the Warriors with 18 kills and two blocks, while Brian Sheddy and Quinlan Kauffman had 13 and 16 kills, respectively.

The Warriors finish their season with a 10-6 record.
