Friday's softball roundup: Delone Catholic clinches share of Division IV title


Here are Friday's York/Adams softball results.

DELONE CATHOLIC 17, YORK CATHOLIC 0 (3) >> The Squirettes plated 12 runs in the first inning and clinched a share of the Division IV title with the three-inning victory.

Cassie Rickrode and Katie Laughman each belted a home run to lead the offense. Freshman Marlee Lackey won her first varsity start with five strikeouts. Shayna Rider, Laughman, Shelbee Holcomb and Rickrode all totaled three hits for Delone.

KENNARD-DALE 11, EASTERN YORK 2 >> The Rams used a six-run inning to seal the road victory. Kristen Stewart hit a home run to back Brittany Orwig, who struck out four to earn the win.

The Rams (11-0) will host Littlestown (10-1) on Monday with a share of the Division III title at stake.

Sara Golden was perfect from the plate with four hits and four RBIs for Suburban. Emily Turybury had three hits, including a triple.

CENTRAL YORK 13, RED LION 0 (5) >> Rachel Butler was dominant from the pitching circle as she struck out 10 batters in the shutout win for the Panthers.

Butler went 3-for-4 with a home run to help her own cause. Monica Albers was a perfect 3-for-3 for Central York.

The Lions' Megan Teal was 2-for-2 with two of Red Lion's three hits.

SPRING GROVE 14, NEW OXFORD 7 >> Julia Wivell hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to break open the game. The homer also helped her earn the win.

Spring Grove also added three doubles in the fifth as they walloped seven hits, including the grand slam.

The Colonials' Shawna Belcher had three hits and three RBIs.

The Warriors' Madelyn Yannetti went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double.
