Thursday's softball roundup: Dallastown beats South Western behind three home runs


Here are Thursday's York/Adams softball results.

DALLASTOWN 9, SOUTH WESTERN 7 >> Six of the Wildcats' runs came via the long ball as they held on to beat the Mustangs on the road.

Dallastown's Kayla Collins hit a three-run home run, Danielle Ludwig a two-run bomb and Mel Grant a solo shot.

South Western's Kaitlyn Chell hit a three-run shot and went 2-for-4 from the dish.

SPRING GROVE 11, NEW OXFORD 6>> After Spring Grove scored six runs in the sixth inning, New Oxford responded with five in the bottom of the frame. But the Rockets had built enough cushion to hold off the Colonials.

Spring Grove's Julia Wivell struck out nine batters and added a double.

WEST YORK 7, GETTYSBURG 5>> The Warriors got on the board with a five-run fourth inning, but West York responded with strong hitting in the fifth and sixth innings to take the win. Most of the Bulldogs' damage came with a four-run fifth inning.

Kayla Michael struck out two and had the only multiple base hit for her team, a double.

Kaitlin Yealy led the Thunderbolts at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

KENNARD-DALE 7, EASTERN YORK 1 >> Alexis Valentine commanded the strike zone, striking out 10 batters to help the Rams win at home.

Rhiannon McGlone had two hits including a double, and Brittany Orwig also cracked two hits.

Eastern's Sierra Arnold took the loss on the mound, but she was a perfect 2-for-2 from the plate with a double.
