West York lacrosse hosts charity event Wednesday

Two teams that have been personally affected by the heartbreak that comes from dealing with cancer — the West York girls' and boys' lacrosse teams — will host a charity event March 30 to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Both teams feature players whose mothers are battling breast cancer right now, Bulldogs boys' head coach Rodney Tamblin said, and two of the girls players decided to start the event as their senior project.

Wednesday's "Crosse Out Cancer" charity event will feature two games: boys' junior varsity vs. girls' junior varsity, then varsity vs. varsity.

The boys will use girls' sticks and will be coached by the girls' coaching staff, and vice versa.

The event will be held inside the West York football stadium at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
