Central's Lee, York Catholic's Forjan in front at district golf

As Central York's golfers continue to dominate the postseason, the Panthers' Julianne Lee and York Catholic's Andrew Forjan are at the top of their respective leaderboards after the first day of the District 3 golf tournaments at Briarwood.

In all, four YAIAA golfers are poised in striking distance in the top three entering Saturday's final round of play.

Lee leads the girls' Class 3A field by five strokes after shooting a 2-under 68 on Friday at Briarwood West. She's the only female golfer in either class to come in under par. Susquehannock's Kendel Abrams sits in fourth place at 8-over.

On the boys' side in Class 3A, three Central York boys rank inside the top six after the first round. Joe Parrini led the Panthers with a 2-under 70 that put him in third place behind Manheim Township's Trey Kuntz (5-under) and Chambersburg's Karsen Rush (3-under). Central teammates Matt Bricker and Carson Bacha each shot even par and sit in fifth place in a tightly packed 3A field.

York Catholic's Forjan, meanwhile, is tied for the lead in the boys' Class 2A tournament after the first round at Briarwood East. Forjan and Tulpehocken's Chase Miller each shot a 2-over 74. They hold a one-stroke lead.

And in the girls' Class 2A tournament, Eastern York's Alexandra Lowder sits in third place after shooting 9-over on Friday. She's six strokes behind the leader, Grace Stillman of Lancaster Mennonite.

The final round is set for Saturday back at Briarwood. The boys tee off at 10 a.m., and the girls tee off at 10:30.
