Suburban outlasts West York in 3rd-place match

The York Suburban volleyball team won its third-place District 3 Class 3A match against West York on Saturday at Dallastown High School by a final score of 3-2.

Suburban won the match by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13.

The two teams each qualified for the PIAA tournament, which begins Tuesday. Opponents, locations and match times are to be announced.

The Trojans lost twice to the Bulldogs this season by scores of 3-0 and 3-1 but were able to come away with the postseason victory Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans fell to Garden Spot 3-0 in Thursday's semifinals but were able to bounce back to take down their YAIAA Division II rival Bulldogs.

"It was a matter of rebounding," said Suburban head coach Sonia Guyer. "Some things didn't go our way (against Berks Catholic) but it's not a loss if you learn from it. Our team has that mindset."

Miranda Kauffman had 13 kills for Suburban while Ali Reinecker added 12.

Parker Faircloth-Henise and Chey Buckingham each recorded four blocks for the Trojans.
