Athlete of the Year
Madisen Kling, Red Lion, jr.
After beating a number of strong throwers to win her second straight YAIAA discus title, Kling captured the District 3 Class 3A championship with a throw of 141 feet, one inch. She followed that up by winning her first state title with a throw of 141-3, becoming the only York-Adams track athlete to win a gold medal at the PIAA championships this season. She also finished fourth in the javelin at the YAIAA championships.
FIRST-TEAM ALL-STARS
Madi Smith, New Oxford, sr.
The Penn State commit won her second straight YAIAA javelin title and came in second in District 3 Class 3A with a throw of 139 feet, seven inches. She finished off her high school career by earning a PIAA bronze medal with a career-best throw of 148 feet, three inches on her final attempt. She also finished fourth in the league in the discus.
Nathalie Elliott, Spring Grove, sr.
Elliott set a District 3 record by pole vaulting 12 feet, six inches to win gold at the Class 3A meet. She also took first place in the event at the YAIAA championships and sixth at the state meet.
Tesia Thomas, West York, fr.
Only a freshman, Thomas won the league title in the triple jump and took third in Class 3A at the District 3 meet with a mark of 37 feet, 10 inches. Thomas also broke West York records in the triple jump and long jump. She competed at the PIAA championships in the triple jump.
Airika McCaskill, Spring Grove, jr.
In her first season of track and field, McCaskill reached the PIAA championships in the shot put and came in ninth. She also won gold at the league meet with a throw of 39 feet, eight inches and took second at the District 3 Class 3A meet with a toss of 39-8.75.
Ashley Kerr, Eastern York, sr.
Kerr won District 3 Class 2A titles in the shot put (38 feet, five inches) and discus (114 feet, five inches) and competed at states in both events. She also finished second in the shot put and third in the discus at the YAIAA championships.
Madison James, York Suburban, sr.
The Trojans senior won the league title in the high jump and qualified for the state championships in the event by hitting the qualifying mark of five feet, three inches at the District 3 Class 3A meet. She also finished third in the triple jump and fifth in the javelin at the league meet.
Kristin Langrill, Littlestown, sr.
After coming in third at the league meet in the 100-yard dash, Langrill took second at the District 3 Class 2A meet with a school-record time of 12.61. She also took second at districts in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.21 and competed at the state championships in both events.
Kiersten Lloyd, Red Lion, fr.
The freshman won gold at the league meet in the 1,600-meter (5:14.87) and the 800-meter runs (2:24.11). Llyod then took seventh at the District 3 Class 3A meet with a time of 5:07.93 and qualified for the PIAA championships.
Maddie McLain, Eastern York, jr.
The YAIAA's top cross country runner continued her distance-running dominance during track season. McLain won gold in the 3,200-meter race (11:17.36) and silver in the 1,600-meter race (5:16.80) at the league meet. She then took second in both events at the District 3 Class 2A meet and earned a fifth-place medal in the 3,200 at states with a career-best time of 11:01.97.
Emily Eckard, Dover, jr.
Red Lion's Madisen Kling was the only discus thrower in District 3 Class 3A who could top Eckard. The Dover junior took second to Kling at the league and District 3 meets, posting a top throw of 133 feet, six inches at counties. She finished ninth in the event at the PIAA championships.
Hannah Logue, Fairfield, sr.
Logue did everything for a Fairfield squad that captured Division III and District 3 Class 2A team titles. She qualified for states in four events, taking second place at districts in the triple jump and long jump while helping the Knights' 400-meter and 1,600-meter relays come in first. Fairfield's 400-meter relay won silver at states with a school-record time of 49.43 seconds.
Coach of the Year
Phomma Phanhthy, Fairfield
What a year it was for Phanhthy. After leading Fairfield's girls' soccer team to a state title in the fall, Phanhthy coached the girls' track team to a Division III title and the District 3 Class 2A championship. The Green Knights also handed Delone Catholic its first dual meet loss in six years.
