As the regular season comes to a close for a majority of the fall sports, many YAIAA teams gear up for the beginning of the District 3 tournament in their respective sports.
In Class AA boys' soccer, (4) Susquehannock looks to take down (13) West York for the third time this season in the first round on Monday. The Warriors took a 2-1 win in the first matchup between the two teams and in the second they won with ease 4-0.
Gettysburg is the top seed in Class AA and will face Saturday's preliminary round winner from (17) Oley Valley at (16) Biglerville. (5) Bermudian Springs is also in the top half of the bracket as they will face (12) Lampeter-Strasburg at home.
In Class AAA boys' soccer, (4) Central York will face either (13) Central Dauphin East or (20) Daniel Boone, while (18) Red Lion will take on (15) Greencastle-Antrim in Saturday's preliminary round. (1) Dallastown travels to (7) Elizabethtown looking for an upset on Tuesday.
On the girls' side of things, (4) Northeastern will host (13) Gettysburg in the Class AA opening round on Monday. Despite both being in the YAIAA, this will mark the first matchup of the season between the two teams.
The Bobcats finished the regular season with 15-4-1 record (9-2-1), while Gettysburg finished with a 10-7-0 record (8-4-0).
In other action, (5) Susquehannock will host (12) Twin Valley and (1) Northern York will face the winner of Conrad Weiser vs. Brandywine Heights.
In Class A girls' soccer action, (2) York Catholic, (3) Fairfield and (11) Delone Catholic are all in the bottom half of the bracket. The Squirettes will need to get past Millersburg on the road in Monday's preliminary round to have a chance at facing the Green Knights on Thursday, while the Fighting Irish will face the winner of Wyomissing and Lancaster County Christian.
Class AAA girls' soccer sees three YAIAA teams make the tournament if (17) Dover and (13) Central York can get past their preliminary round opponents on Friday. (11) Dallastown faces (6) Daniel Boone in the first round on Tuesday.
Class AAA Field hockey action will get underway Saturday with (16) Red Lion taking on (17) Cedar Crest in the preliminary round. (8) Central will take on (9) Elizabethtown and (10) New Oxford travels to (7) Hempfield on Wednesday. (4) Dallastown will face either Manheim Township or Lampeter-Strasburg.
In Class AA, (13) Susquehannock will face (20) Lancaster Catholic in the prelims. (8) Bermudian traves to (9) Schuylkill Valley and (3) Gettysburg will face the Milton Hershey-East Pennsboro winner.
