Dover's Brooke Firestone scores 100th career goal on four-goal night

Dover's Brooke Firestone scored all four goals in the Eagles' 4-0 soccer victory against Kennard-Dale on Wednesday, scoring her 100th career goal in the process.

Firestone hit the milestone with her final goal of the game. She dribbled from the left side of the field, beat a Rams defender one-on-one and finished at a tight angle to get the ball past goalie Megan Halczuk.

Firestone already owned the school scoring mark after she broke Maxine Herman's record of 93 in a game against West York. Dover coach Bret Altimore said he congratulated her on that milestone.

"She said to me, 'You know, this is a team achievement, a team award,'" Altimore said Wednesday, "and for her to recognize that it takes more than one (player) to score a goal just shows how classy she can be."

Immediately after Firestone's milestone was announced, Rams keeper Halczuk ran over to shake her hand, a moment Altimore said he was thrilled to have witnessed.

Halczuk made eight saves for the Rams. Dover's Sara Wilt and Madison Miller had an assist apiece.
